About Canada

Canada is the second largest country in the world by total geographical area. Occupying most of northern North America, it extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean, Canada shares land borders with the United States.

Canada has an undisputed reputation for its excellent standard of living. In fact, the United Nations rated it as one of the “best places in the world to live”.

As a member of the esteemed G7 group of leading industrial countries, Canada boasts outstanding infrastructure, a world-class educational system (with several streams to choose from), strong and stable banking systems and a diverse portfolio of business/investment opportunities.

Social services such as Medicare, the publicly funded health care system, ensure that medical assistance is not something reserved for only the elite, but is a strong component to Canada’s climate of care, equality and respect for all. In fact, human rights and personal freedom are so deeply respected that both are constitutionally enshrined in Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The Canadian political system functions as both a parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarchy whose head of state is Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. A federation of ten provinces and three territories, its two official languages are English and French. While natural resources and trade are heavily relied upon, Canada is also a highly industrialized and technologically advanced nation, whose economy remains diversified.

Canada’s rich history of immigration has created a multicultural society that many colloquially refer to as a “mosaic”, where newcomers are encouraged to grow and succeed.
